I am a 20-something professional student living in Nashville. I moved here from Orlando, FL, in August 2008. Orlando is a great city for vegans, with three fully vegan restaurants (one of them raw). When I moved to Nashville, I had no idea where to eat in a sea of meat-and-threes. I didn’t know any other vegans and did not know how to find them. Slowly (and mostly unsurely) I navigated the murky waters of Nashville vegan eating, and I found so many great restaurants and dishes that I wanted to share them with the world. That is how Nashvegan came into being: I want to share with you all the limitless number of delicious vegan treats to be found in this great city.
My vegetarianism began January 1, 2003, and I made the shift to veganism January 1, 2009. I am what you would call an ethical vegan, but this site is not about my personal politics. It is about where to find fabulous, cruelty-free food. Living a vegan lifestyle is far easier than many people think, and I want to show that you can find great meals all over the place. I try every day to be the change I wish to see in the world, and I hope that this blog will not only support other Nashville vegans (Nashvegans!) but will also help to draw others into the vegan lifestyle, even if it is only for one meal. Every journey begins with a single step.
Want to suggest a restaurant/dish, let me know how I’m doing, rant at me, or otherwise reach out and touch someone? Send me an email at nashvegan (dot) blog (at) gmail (dot) com. Also, feel free to become a fan on facebook.
